Dusty's Magic 8 Ball Accessibility

This page is for the iPhone and iPad app Dusty's Magic 8 Ball. It explains which system accessibility features we built for, how to turn them on, and what we do not claim.

Common tasks: skip the intro, finish or skip onboarding, ask the 8, read the answer, open Closet and Settings, buy the $0.99 unlock, share, and use the Home Screen widget.

In the app

Closet → Settings → Less motion stops spinning, sparkles, and bouncing answers. Reduce Motion in iPhone Settings does the same automatically.

Text size follows your iPhone or iPad setting. There is no separate in-app font slider.

What we support

Dark Interface. The app is dark by default — screens, menus, and controls. Snow Globe photo crop stays a cream panel on dark chrome so you can see the picture.

Reduced Motion. With Reduce Motion on (or Less motion in Closet), we stop 3D idle spin, sparkles, balloon pop, word bounce, storms, and the level-up burst.

Differentiate Without Color Alone. Answers are words (Yes, No, Maybe), not red vs green dots. Selected costumes, locked floors, and equipped packs use labels, thicker strokes, locks, and checkmarks.

Sufficient Contrast. Comic cream on ink. Captions use a solid secondary ink, and they go full ink when Increase Contrast is on.

VoiceOver. The ball, Ask, skip intro, Stats, Closet, Share, costumes, and the $0.99 unlock have names. Double-tap the Magic 8 Ball to ask. Spirit Guide is a row in Closet — you do not need a secret long-press.

Voice Control. Unique names, for example “Tap Ask the Magic Eight Ball,” “Tap Closet and Settings,” “Tap Stats,” “Tap Share this,” “Tap Unlock Everything.”

Larger Text. Body copy follows Dynamic Type. At accessibility sizes, Stats stacks, the Ask button wraps, and the answer sits under the ball.

The Home Screen widget: tap ASK for a short answer; tap the 8 to open the app. The widget uses your floor color.

What we do not claim

Captions and Audio Descriptions are not on our App Store labels. There is no dialogue video. The intro is skippable. Answers are already on-screen text.
